Lumiose City Pursuit! (Japanese: メガシンカとプリズムタワー! Mega Evolution and the Prism Tower!) is the 803rd episode of the Pokémon anime series. In this episode, Ash and his new friends Clemont and Bonnie rush to Professor Sycamore with an injured Froakie. The original airing of this show in the United States was on October 19, 2013 as a special preview of the new series. Its chronological appearance was on January 25, 2014.

Summary[]

The episode opens with Serena attempting to ride a Rhyhorn with her mother, Grace, teaching her. Seeing her daughter struggle, Grace gives various tips, but unfortunately Serena is thrown off the Rhyhorn and after which she screams that she hates doing this. After the introduction, a brief summary of what happened in the previous episode is given to show why Ash, Clemont and Bonnie are running with a Froakie to Professor Sycamore's laboratory. The scene then changes to Team Rocket, where Jessie, James, and Meowth are seen in a tree when Ash and Bonnie run by (Clemont said he'd catch up later due to being slow), and noticed where they were running off too and began to discuss plans.

Once Ash and Bonnie arrived at the lab, Professor Sycamore is seen immediately where he sees the Froakie injured. He then quickly explains how he knows this Froakie due to its trainer contacting him explaining that he no longer wishes to have Froakie. The Pokémon is then rushed by an assistant to be taken care of. Clemont then finally catches up with the gang and they then go to see Froakie who is being taken care of by Sophie, the assistant seen earlier. After introductions between Ash and his friends and Professor Sycamore, Ash asked for more details about Froakie and its trainer abandoning it. It is explained that Froakie does not listen to his trainers which results in the trainers giving Froakie back to the professor. Ash and his friends are then greeted by Professor Sycamore's Garchomp who was concerned about its friend, Froakie. Professor Sycamore explains about how there are a lot of Pokémon that are at the lab and that excites Bonnie so Clemont and her go to see them while Ash stays behind to say thank you to the Pokémon for saving him.

When Ash meets up with Clemont, Bonnie, and the professor, Ash asked more about the research he does on evolution. Professor Sycamore then goes into details saying that some Pokémon may have another evolution that was previously unknown, such as Garchomp, called Mega Evolution. This is heard also by Team Rocket who is listening quietly on the roof. They then put on disguises to try to learn more about Mega Evolution and to take anything that relates to it. They throw a trap at the Froakie that sent them flying in the previous episode, but Garchomp went in front of it, being trapped. Ash, Clemont, Bonnie, and the professor then show to see that it is Team Rocket behind this. Garchomp then attacks Team Rocket, blasting them off into the sky. The trap that was put on Garchomp was a collar that has put it into a big rage and took off into the city. Ash and his friends begin chasing after it.

After the brief intermission, Garchomp is seen attacking the city where Officer Jenny tells the citizens to evacuate the area as Garchomp heads to Prism Tower. A reporter is recording the event live on television where Grace and Serena are watching it from their home. Ash and everyone else arrive at Prism Tower where they see Garchomp still in a rage and using its Hyper Beam attack. Ash decides to go up the tower to try to calm Garchomp down, knowing the danger it puts himself in. Clemont decides to help Ash up the tower by using the technology on his back, which resembles the tail of an Aipom. The original path was blocked off by Garchomp's Hyper Beam so Ash, Pikachu, and Froakie go on without them. Professor Sycamore then arrives, telling Officer Jenny that the Garchomp belongs to him. It is then that a citizen notices Ash on the tower which worries the professor and the rest watching this event. Ash begins to try to calm Garchomp, but it continues to use Hyper Beams on it. The scene quickly changes back to Grace and Serena where Grace wonders if Ash is its trainer and Serena just stares at the screen.

The scene then returns back to Prism Tower where Clemont and Bonnie decide to find a way in to help Ash. No matter how much Ash tries talking to Garchomp, it just keeps attacking with Hyper Beam attacks. Pikachu begins to charge its electricity, but Ash tells it not to attack Garchomp. Garchomp begins to walk backwards near the edge of the ledge which then Froakie uses its frubbles on Garchomp's feet to prevent it from falling. Ash then tells Pikachu to use Iron Tail on the collar, which breaks it off Garchomp. While Garchomp is now free from the collar, the damage on Prism Tower results in part of the ledge breaking off, sending Pikachu plummeting down to the ground. Ash jumps off Prism Tower, to grab Pikachu as they both continue to fall. It is then that a Pokémon Ash saw at the start of the previous episode swoops in and saves the two of them. Professor Sycamore explains that the Pokémon that saved Ash and Pikachu was a Blaziken in its Mega Evolution form. Serena then gets a close up of Ash and then recognizes him somehow.

The following day comes and Professor Sycamore gives Ash a Kalos Pokédex and the three of them wish him the best on his research. As they begin to leave, Froakie goes to Ash with its Poké Ball and wants to go with him. Ash then allows Froakie to join him and Pikachu on its journey. The final scene is where Serena is feeding Rhyhorn where she says something is going to happen soon and it revolves around the boy they saw on television, Ash.
