Spiky Shield (Japanese: ニードルガード Needle Guard) is a Grass-type status move introduced in Generation VI. Before Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, it was Chesnaught's signature move.

In battle[]
Spiky Shield protects the user from all moves and damage, excluding weather condition moves, moves that cause a status condition from a previous turn, Acupressure, Curse, [{Doom Desire]], Feint, Future Sight, Imprison, Perish Song, Phantom Force, Psych Up, Role Play, Shadow Force, and Transform. If a move blocked by Spiky Shield would have made contact with the user, the attacking Pokémon losses 1/8 of its maximum HP in damage. If the attacking Pokémon takes damage as a result and has the item Rocky Helmet or the ability Rough Skin or Iron Barbs, the effects will not occur. This is an increased priority move.
By using Spiky Shield, the chance of this move, Protect, Detect, Endure, or King's Shield being used on the same Pokémon successfully decreases to 30%.
Also, if a Pokémon uses Feint, Phantom Force, or Shadow Force on the user the Spiky Shield is removed from the user for the rest of the turn.
