Sage

A Sage is a Trainer Class introduced in Generation II. They appear as young, shaven headed men with monk-like clothing. In Bellsprout Tower they use Hoothoot and Bellsprout in battle. At the Ecruteak City Gym they use Ghost-type Pokémon. The Elder class was introduced in the Generation IV games Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver just for Li, the oldest sage in the Bellsprout Tower and appears to be an older version on the Sage class.

Trivia

• In the versions outside of Japan and Korea, their sprites in Generation II were edited, the religious references they were showing were removed due to Nintendo's policies at the time of not depicting religious images.
• In the Korean version of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, their sprites were edited, the prayer beads were removed and their robes were recolored.
