Mr. Shaw (Japanese: ショール Shoal) is one of the supporting characters in the episode: Cilan and the Case of the Purrloin Witness!. He is one of the gem collectors in the Unova region. He believes that his gems should be kept private and out of the eyes of the public, until his opinion changed in the end of the episode of his appearance.
History[]
Mr. Shaw was first seen, in the episode Cilan and the Case of the Purrloin Witness!, barging into Mrs. Ripple's room without her, or Watchog's permission. When he entered the room, he asked to see the Eye of Liepard, the rarest gem Mrs. Ripple owns and is the biggest of its kind found. He then asks her if he can have it, and she tells him that she won't give it to him. Frustrated by the answer, he reassures everyone in the room (Ash, Iris, Cilan, Porter, and Mrs. Ripple]]) that he will have it and laughs hysterically before Watchog slams the door in his face.
Later in the episode, he uses his Roselia to put Watchog, who was guarding Mrs. Ripple's room, to sleep, using sleep powder. He returns Roselia to its Poké Ball and tells it that it did a job well done and then enters the room. During the battle between Ash and Teaque, the power was disrupted due to their Pokémon using thunderbolt that hit a power source. When the power was restored, Mrs. Ripple and Porter saw Watchog asleep on the ground and then a scream coming from her room. When they entered the room they saw Mr. Shaw sitting on the ground and pointed to her gem case saying the Eye of Liepard was stolen (the gem he showed interest in before).
Due to being in the room when the gem was stolen, he was everyone's first suspect. He admitted that he broke into the room, but it was only to get a better look at the gem and that he'd never steal it from her. However, as the investigation continued, Cilan discovered he was innocent and the reason that he fell on the ground was due to Teaque's Vanillite using ice beam to unlock the case during the blackout and the ice key fell on the ground, melting. At the end of the episode, Mr. Shaw sees the public's interest in looking at the Eye of Liepard and realizes that gems should be displayed for everyone to see. He also asks for Mrs. Ripple's apology, for which she gives it. Finally, he thanks Ahs, Iris, and especially Cilan, through a hug, for proving his innocence.
