Marlon is the final Gym Leader of Unova, who specializes in using Water-type Pokémon. He debuts in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.

Marlon makes a short cameo appearance in the the opening of Pokémon: Best Wishes 2, along with Caitlin, Cynthia, Alder, and Drayden.

Later, in BW096, he battles and loses to Cameron in a gym battle, awarding him the Wave Badge.

In the anime

Wailord It carried Marlon when he transported Ash and Cameron to Humilau City. It is also used as a method of transport to ferry challengers to the Humilau City Gym.

Jellicent It battled Cameron's Ferrothorn, but was swiftly taken down with a Thunderbolt. Its only known move is Shadow Ball, and its ability is Cursed Body.

Mantine It fought Cameron's Ferrothorn and defeated it due to it being weakened by Marlon's Jellicent. However, it lost to Cameron's Samurott. Its known moves include Wing Attack, Bullet Seed, and Psybeam.

• His name possibly originates from the Spanish word for sea, "mar".
