Jirachi (ジラーチ Jirachi) plays a pivotal role in the movie Jirachi: Wish Maker. Jirachi is a legendary Pokémon who awakens once every thousand years for a period of seven days, coinciding with the appearance of the Millennium Comet. It requires a human friend in order to fully awaken from its hibernation.

Appearance[]

Jirachi resembles a yellow pixie in appearance. Under its eyes, there are V-shaped markings that are light green. Jirachi's head is yellow and resembles a star, but with only three points. Hanging on those three points are three light green bands that are part of Jirachi's ability to grant wishes. It also has two yellow strings streaming from behind it. The eye positioned at the center of its stomach is its true eye, which it can use to absorb the power of the Comet.

Plot[]

Butler finds the Millennium Crystal

Jirachi is discovered by Butler.

Jirachi was found by Butler and Diane deep beneath Forina, in which it was held within the form of a purplish crystal. Butler aimed to use its limitless power in order to create a Groudon through artificial means, which he failed to do for Team Magma. Later, Jirachi telepathically reached out to Max during Butler's magic show.

Jirachi

Jirachi's true eye opens to absorb the Millennium Comet.

When Jirachi emerged from its cocoon, Butler attempted to use its powers to absorb the Comet's energy. Before the process could be completed, Ash and his friends intervened and fled with Diane to Forina. Butler follows them to Forina, and succeeds in creating an artificial Groudon by capturing Jirachi. However, the Groudon begins consuming all of the wildlife in Forina, and with Butler's help, Jirachi succeeds in defeating the creature.

After this, Jirachi returns to its resting place, bidding farewell to Max, Ash, May and Brock.
