BW103: Drayden Versus Iris: Past, Present, and Future! (ソウリュウジム！アイリスVSシャガ！) is the 760th episode of the Pokémon anime series. This episode features Iris' rematch with the Opelucid City Gym Leader, Drayden.
Episode Plot[]
Arriving in Opelucid City, the Dragon Master Drayden challenges Iris to a rematch, who had previously been thoroughly trounced by him in the past. Iris climbs a steel tower in Opelucid City to clear her head, but causes a big scene. Upon climbing down, Iris and gang are berated by Officer Jenny. A woman speaks up and takes the gang with her. Iris is reunited with Martha, her old caretaker in school.
During lunch, Iris reminisces about her shocking loss to Drayden and the result of Excadrill closing off its heart from Iris. Iris also remembers her days at school and sees some drawings she left on the wall, including one of Excadrill. Iris then remembers that she often went up the tower to feel better in the past too.
Later on, Iris remembers her battle with another student where she used a Fraxure. She was defeated and retreated back to the steel tower for comfort. Iris is reunited with Fraxure one last time before taking on Drayden.
The battle has come and first up is Excadrill vs. Haxorus. In a flurry of attacks, both are evenly matched and both are left unable to battle. The battle is declared a draw. Next up is Dragonite vs. Druddigon. Both open with powerful attacks and smoke is created on the field as a result of the collision of attacks. Druddigon takes advantage of the smoke and gets the drop on Dragonite using Double Team. Dragonite and Iris manage to see through the illusions and land a ThunderPunch followed by Ice Beam. Iris is confident she can win until Drayden has Druddigon throw Dragonite in the air, knocking it out on impact.
Iris is left with a loss once again, and Drayden consults with the elder, presenting his thoughts on Iris becoming his successor to the Opelucid Gym Leader title. Iris and the others leave to continue on to the League. Martha sees them off and they continue on to Ash's next big battle.
