AZ is a character introduced in Pokémon X and Y. AZ is first appears on Route 13, making cryptic statements about a Flower Pokémon. Az reappears two more times afterwards.
Biography[]
AZ lived 3,000 years before the events of Pokémon X and Y. During those times, a war broke out and his dear friend, a Floette, went into battle, losing its life. Heartbroken, AZ built a machine to revive his fallen friend. He succeeded, but his rage from the loss continued and he turned the machine into a weapon, ending the war at the cost of many Pokémon lives'. His friend found out of his misdeeds and left him. Soon after, AZ began searching about Kalos for his friend, somehow wandering around for 3,000 years.
The player first encounters him on Route 13 after taking on Team Flare at the Kalos Power Plant. He speaks about a "Flower Pokémon" given eternal life and departs. Speaking to others near the route reveals he has been walking around for over 3,000 years. AZ next appears in the lower levels of Lysandre Labs, held prisoner by Lysandre for the key around his neck. AZ reveals to the player his sad history before asking them to prevent Lysandre's plan.
After the player defeats Team Flare and the Champion, AZ reappears one last time at the player and friends' parade and requests a battle to learn what it means to be a trainer. Upon defeat, he comes to terms with what he did in the past. His acceptance of his part in the weapon's creation makes Floette reappear, finally reuniting them after 3,000 years.
