Move Tutor Tables[]

I don't want to come across as harsh or anything, but I haven't seen a discussion for the move tutor tables and it's always best to have a discussion. If the discussion happened on Skype, I might've skimmed over it while loading the messages and if so I apologize for that. But I didn't see a discussion and I just want to make sure that things were discussed before we went ahead and implemented things.

Additionally, would you like me to add you into the Community Skype group? (When I get home from school, of course.) Jazzi (talk) 15:23, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

I was taking initiative by writing up a page that had virtually nothing on it. It's a baseline. We can work with the tables from there. I used the item table from Striaton City#Items as a base and matched colors to the Pokédex entries' colors. There's a lot of content we need pushed to the Wiki before traffic spikes on the 7th, and since Move Tutors are one of those things that people absolutely want to see and there wasn't anything there for it already, that was my project for yesterday.
You can go ahead and add me to the community Skype group when you get back. —Personal Image - MarrilandMarriland 15:31, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
I understand what you mean. I used to do baselines back when I first started. Sorry for jumping down your throat. Jazzi (talk) 15:36, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello! What can I do to help?[]

Apologies if this is the wrong place to bring this up...but what can I do to help? What pages need to be written? --Lugia (talk) 13:03, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Well, there's quite a bit that needs to be done, but right now one of the most valuable things is just spot-checking stuff. Following the Watercooler Forum here is a good bet to watch for projects that are being discussed, to provide input, and then to implement anything. I know one project I'm starting to move forward is listing all of the item locations, although I have yet to get this implemented in the item pages at the time of replying; filling in the blanks with that would be good. —Personal Image - MarrilandMarriland 16:53, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
OK then. BTW, what exactly is the niche? I mean, what would differentiate MarriWiki from bulbapedia? Or are we trying to directly compete with them? --Lugia (talk) 20:15, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Very good question! One thing that we have that Bulbapedia does not is a large fan site behind it, with walkthroughs, a database-driven Pokedex, and other useful tools (Bulbagarden primarily focuses on community endeavors, like the Wiki, Oekaki and the Forums). They have projects on their Bulbapedia for walkthroughs and have Pokedex stuff, too, but it's all in a Wiki style. Currently, I do a lot of interlinking between terms in my Black 2 and White 2 Walkthrough and the Wiki. The Pokedex, too. We're both still Wikis, but I do see a lot of difference in how we go about things and I think our content will be different enough in the end to provide a nice alternative. —Personal Image - MarrilandMarriland 21:51, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
OK then! Sorry to keep bothering you with questions, but there was some rule about categories...that you could be banned for adding the wrong categories and stuff....where can I find more detail on that policy? Thanks for your time! --Lugia (talk) 23:00, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
I'm not quite sure where you heard that, but that's not the case. It never will be, so you don't have anything to worry about =) Jazzi (talk) 00:48, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
Right here. So if I forget to add a category, or add one I think belongs but isn't, you won't ban me? By the way, is this the complete list of policies? --Lugia (talk) 11:05, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

(Reset indent) That point wasn't wholly agreed upon by the community, so you can disregard it. Chaos 12:06, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

OK. Thanks for your help! --Lugia (talk) 17:08, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Items[]

I've seen you've been editing a lot of stuff from the list of items category, small edits, like changing tables and things. Mind if I help? I've got almost nothing to do here, anyway. Houndoom (talk) 02:24, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, that'd be great! Because I currently don't have an item listing on the site anywhere, my eventual goal is to tidy up the items as a whole, put the {{ItemLocation}} template on the item pages, and make sure they've all got the {{ItemBox}} template as well. One thing that I'm not looking forward to doing is changing all of the Poké Dollar symbols on the List of Items page so the symbol is before the amount, i.e. Poké Dollar500 instead of 500Poké Dollar, so if that's something you'd like to do, too, it'd be a help! Thanks! :D —Personal Image - MarrilandMarriland 17:36, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
Hope you don't mind, but I used my bot to change around the Poké Dollar to save you some hassle. – Crimsonnavy T  S  19:50, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
Thaaaank you! :D That was a pain to do and I was too lazy to do some regex for it. —Personal Image - MarrilandMarriland 21:04, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
I might add that I notice there are some pages missing, should I create them or leave them be? Houndoom (talk) 01:52, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
Oh yeah, adding them would be great! Even basic stubs are better than nothing, but you can always copy + paste from an existing item just to get it started. The images should all be there -- at least the sprites are. —Personal Image - MarrilandMarriland 02:43, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Slow scrolling[]

I noticed that scrolling here on the wiki appears to be very slow and jagged, as opposed to the main section of the site. If my suspicions are correct, it's due to CSS overload. Maybe this skin could be branched off from Vector under its own name, and edit skinname/style.css in the skin directory instead of MediaWiki:Skinname.css ? I think what's happening is that the vector/style.css stylesheet is loading, and then MediaWiki:Vector.css is loading on top of it, overriding the others.--immewnitythemew 16:48, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

I sincerely doubt that "CSS overload" would have anything to do with slow scrolling. It's more likely to be the choice of a fixed background, probably in combination with the box shadows. This complicates rendering during scrolling, while a large amount of CSS should only complicate the initial render (and the price we pay for having the flexibility of being able to edit the CSS through the wiki). You need to keep in mind, in MediaWiki, not only does a skin provide images and CSS, it's also responsible for laying out the HTML. We learned from experience that making a true custom skin causes a lot of problems during software upgrades. It's much easier to deal with a few style incompatibilities than that and code incompatibilities.
You can check to see if it's the background by placing body { background-attachment: scroll } in your personal stylesheet. If it is, we can see about getting a consensus to change it. Eyes Personal Image - Eyes 22:34, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Ah, yup, it's definitely the fixed background. Yeah, I see what you're saying about a separate skin as well; I guess I've been lucky with Vector staying vastly the same since 1.16. Anyways, yes, thinking about it now, it would be JavaScript that would generally slow things down, not CSS. Anyways, yes, setting the background to scroll with the page definitely makes scrolling a lot smoother.--immewnitythemew 17:08, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

What Got Me into Trouble on The Forums Itself?[]

Hi Marriland! I came to the Wiki because I'm going to want to edit something soon as soon as I can find an article. Since you probably can't see my username, it is MichaelXD here! I want to know what posts got me into trouble on your forum. I was unfairly banned. I cooled down a bit with the report button, but only brother used it for the wrong reason the morning of May 20. I apologize that he was impatient for you, and he was sorry too. Does it hurt to ask a question without making the mods think you're trying to go against the rules? I want you to take a look at my posts, then come back to me. We can talk about this, but I hate bringing things up in public. I wanted to talk about this in email, and I know it's against the rules to give it out because of security reasons. I heard there was a new Light type meaning there are 18 types on the 3DS. Please discuss this when you have time. You don't have to reply to everyone who emailed you all at once, and read ours carefully!

Here's more detail! This was leading up to them ganging on me and bullying me. How am I supposed to report that without getting in trouble? That's why I reported this. @MichaelXD You just sound like a massive suck up to me that's made too many mistakes and is trying redeem himself. Enough said. Nothing against you as a person but I just think you rub people up the wrong way with your posts. I even asked if I could and explained in the report. Please get them to stop bullying me, please. :( (PokemonTrainer85015 (talk) 20:27, 11 June 2013 (UTC))

Brazilian Portuguese wiki[]

Hello, Marriland! I asked Game widow about this and she said to consult with you first. I would like to create a Brazilian Portuguese Azurilland Wiki. I have already translated the main page, the most important templates, and a lot of other pages. --Mine4017 (talk) 18:04, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
