Teaque (Japanese: タイド Tide) is one of the main characters in the episode: Cilan and the Case of the Purrloin Witness!. He is a gem thief known for his disguises throughout the Unova region.

History[edit | edit source]

Teaque appeared in the episode Cilan and the Case of the Purrloin Witness! where he appeared to want to enter the Marine Cup Tournament, which is a tournament held on the cruise ships heading around the Decolore Islands. His first battle was against Iris and her Axew where he used his Vanillite. In the battle, Axew started out by using scratch, which Teaque had Vanillite dodge using double team. Axew then was told to use dragon rage against Vanillite to get rid of the copies. When the copies were destroyed by the attack, Teaque ordered Vanillite to use ice beam which froze Axew and thus giving the win of the battle to Teaque.

During a later battle, Teaque was shown using Vanillite against an Amoonguss and won when Vanillite landed another ice beam which froze the Pokémon. After many other battles took place, Ash and Teaque made it to the final battle. Instead of using Vanillite, like he had previously in the tournament, Teaque sent out his Galvantula. This surprised Ash and Teaque explained he planned on using Galvantula if he made it to the final round. Excited by battling another electric type, he tells Pikachu to use thunderbolt and Teaque tells Galvantula to do the same. This results in a surge of electricity in the middle of them. With a slight nod of his head, Teaque tells Galvantula what he must do and Galvantula sends the surge of electricity to a power source on the ship which results in a temporary blackout.

During this blackout, a rare gem owned by Mrs. Ripple, called the Eye of Liepard, was stolen. When the power was restored, the battle continued where Ash finsiehd off the battle after dodging Galvantula's signal beam with Pikachu's iron tail. After the battle ended, Mrs. Ripple's Purrloin was seen in the middle of the battle field and started to use scratch on Teaque's face, which Ash helped get Purrloin off him. While although the prime suspect for the gem being stolen was Mr. Shaw, who happened to be in the room during the blackout and thus when the gem was stolen, Mrs. Ripple's Purrloin believed otherwise. The Pokémon insisted on seeing Teaque again and when Ash, Iris, and Cilan went to see Teaque, he said he had no knowledge of the gem being stolen as he was battling Ash at the time and insisted on being left alone.

Teaque was at last called in by Cilan to join the group of everyone who was involved in some way to the theft. It was revealed that Teaque used his Vanillite during the final battle to sneak into Mrs. Ripple's room and steal the gem from the locked case using a key made of ice. When Teaque's true goals were discovered, he sent out his Vanillite to use blizzard on everyone, but a man, later discovered to be Tedesco, stopped the attack with his Growlithe's flamethrower. The man then used his Growlithe's fire fang on Vanillite which sends Vanillite flying back into Teaque and sending them against a wall, knocking Teaque unconscious. Purrloin then takes the gem away from Teaque and removes his disguise. Tedesco then reveals who he is and tells everyone that he has been chasing Teaque for a while and that he steals gems and is a master of disguises. Teaque is then taken away by Tedesco and is placed under arrest.
