Pokémon Best Wishes-XY (Japanese: ポケットモンスターベストウイッシューXY Pocket Monsters Best Wishes!-XY), also known as "BW-XY", "Kalonova", "Five-six", simply "Best Wishes-XY", and another common name for "Black and White-XY" was a Pokémon series merging into the two anime series Black and White and XY.

It was also a series trend which was originally a temporary trend for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl in August 2016 and later in July 2017 by Inazuma Eleven GO. However it was decided to set as a permanent series trend on September 6, 2017. The series began trending on July 10, 2017 replacing Inazuma Eleven GO as the main series trend (until September 6, 2017, Inazuma Eleven GO and Pokémon Best Wishes-XY were main series trends) and ended on April 30, 2020 and it was replaced by Pokémon Diamond and Pearl 2, the second incarnation of the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl major series trend which is separated from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl 1 that trended from February to November 2016.

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY titled as the strongest Japanese animated series of all time due to several high demands of trends and non-stop strength of trends. It is the first and only anime series and Pokemon series trend to reach over 500 days and 1000 days of trending, concluding with 1026 days of trending. The 500th day was on November 21, 2018 while the 1000th day was on April 4, 2020.

Name Origin[]

Pokemon-Kalonova-Team-4

The Best Wishes-XY Team featuring Satoshi's companions in Isshu (Unova) and Kalos.

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY is derived from the two Pokémon anime series: Best Wishes (Black and White in English dub) and XY. Both merge together to form Best Wishes-XY. The series can sometimes called Pokémon Black and White-XY.

Kalonova is derived from the two regions Kalos and Unova—Kalo for Kalos and nova for Unova.

The series can sometimes call Five-six or 5-6. The name is derived from the two Pokémon generations V and VI which is known for Black and White based from Generation V and XY from Generation VI.

History[]

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY was formed around late July 2016 as a temporary series trend for Diamond and Pearl for August 2016. One year later, it started as a temporary series trend for Inazuma Eleven GO but due to its high demand of trending, the series is officially permanent.

Pokemon-Best-Wishes-XY-Japan-Nature-Wallpaper

Japanese Pokémon Best Wishes-XY wallpaper featuring the main characters of the series with their Japanese names. This wallpaper represents that Pokémon is not a part of the Western culture but it is officially Japanese culture. Pokémon Best Wishes-XY became even stronger with the patronizing of the Japanese culture and the anime industry since October 23, 2018.

Pokemon-Best-Wishes-XY-Logo

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY's official logo from April 9, 2018 to January 4, 2019 and minor/unused logo since January 4, 2019. The logo was then discontinued as the main logo and would be the secondary logo instead due to the logo being "Americanized" as Pokémon franchise must be in the original "Japanned" influence. Since that day, this logo was no longer in use even in English posters and at the same time, the logo was indeed not in use, rather using the Japanese logo in any matter. (However, since the introduction of the Japanese logo, this logo is no longer actively used in most English posters because of the continues influence of the anime series with Japanese cultures and the world of anime.)

Since then, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY has the strongest relationship on Japanese and otaku culture. Many people nowadays thought of Pokémon as a part of the Western culture due to popularity of non-Japanese franchises and openings and music not based from Japan. On October 24, 2017, a Pokémon Best Wishes-XY wallpaper was released to show that the Pokémon franchise is not an American influence but is originated from Japan.

However, Pikachu actually symbolizes the Japanese pop culture many westerners don't understand. Pikachu is also a popular Japanese anime character in the western world, alongside Sailor Moon and Hello Kitty. Some westerners just think Pikachu is not from Japan but it actually is and must be crossovered with other Japanese anime and not American animation.

Pokémon has a lot of anime crossovers, whether Best Wishes-XY or not. It has several crossovers from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Love Live, Steins;Gate, Naruto, One Piece, Attack on Titan, Gundam, Oreimo, New Game!, Lucky Star, Vocaloid, Touhou Project, Inazuma Eleven, Yokai Watch, Durarara!!, Katekyo Hitman Reborn and many others.

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY is against Super Sonico, Psycho-Pass, Amagi Brilliant Park, Inu x Boku SS, A Certain Scientific Railgun and the Pokémon series Diamond and Pearl due to several controversies occurred since 2016. The scandal on Super Sonico is that Super Sonico and Suzu Fujimi wear suits. Psycho-Pass and Amagi Brilliant Park also have the same scandal. However, Psycho-Pass had police officers wear their suits, which is not appropriate for a uniform of a police officer. It is also stated that soon, as well as Puella Magi Madoka Magica, to be against the former anime series trend Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day because of continuous interruption to the anime industry and making vengeance against Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

The series is also against Diamond and Pearl for having a scandal of Shipping. In the recent reports since September 2017, it was officially stated that DP started the Shipping controversy, not XY.

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY gained its support on the Japanese world culture since 23 October 2018. On World Otaku Day 2018 (November 24, 2018), the anime series began to raise up its ties with the Japanese anime industry after a downfall since spring 2018. To prevent influencing the series as well as the entire Pokémon franchise to the western world culture, the usage of dubbed names will be discontinued and texts will be set in the Japanese language. All Pokémon character names will be in Japanese, either in Romaji or in Japanese script.

For a better view of what is really anime and Japanese style shows, watching the anime in Japanese dub is recommended instead of the English dub. This will also help to know more about the Japanese culture instead of watching it in English since the dubbed version is considered "westernized and Americanized".

People who are cartoonist or any common American should stop placing Pokémon into a Cartoon Network show nor a Disney XD show. This is a common mistake for cartoonists especially children who watch Cartoon Network or Disney XD. The show is on TV Tokyo and in Nippon Television Network. It is generally considered to be in the Japanese anime genre. Most of it today, the anime is on Animax.

On January 4, 2019, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY revealed its new main logo to prevent the series being influenced by "American cartoons". The logo is now in the Japanese language and the text says "ポケットモンスター" on the upper row which means "Pocket Monsters" or for short "Pokémon" and on the lower row comes "ベストウイッシュー" which means "Best Wishes". The middle row says "Best Wishes-XY" although "XY" cannot be translated into Japanese since these letters are considered to be part of "Romaji" or Japanese words in Latin text. However, the previous main logo will be a secondary logo instead for international / English users. (Since the introduction of the Japanese Pokémon Best Wishes-XY logo, the "international" logo is no longer being used in most English posters and wallpapers to continue the anime series to be known as a Japanese series)

Currently, the series is having stronger ties and full patronage towards Japanese culture and anime industry after having its loss in the summer of 2018 (around April-October 2018). The same period the following year, Japanese culture and anime industry patronizing continues and becomes more motivated.

It was also reported that between January and June 2019 had Pokémon Best Wishes-XY's motivation with Japanese culture and the anime industry became stronger and given more patronage than it was in the previous year. By the welcoming of the second half of 2019, it still continued to have a full patronage with Japanese cultures and the world of anime and Japanese pop culture.

Fron July 2019 to March 2020 had Pokémon Best Wishes-XY's ties with the Japanese anime industry stronger and would continue its legacy for the Japanese culture and anime industry.

Football industry[]

UEFA-Pokemon-Wider-(April-2018)

UEFA-Pokémon wallpaper featuring the all-star studded football stars of each European football team and the main characters of Pokémon Best Wishes-XY. Pokémon Best Wishes-XY became the supporter of the UEFA Champions League from September 2017 to March 31, 2020 with lesser support from the anime series since end-November 2018.

Inazuma Eleven GO isn't always the anime that supports the football industry. Since September 2017, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY is the official supporter and contributor of the largest football league competitions—UEFA, La Liga and Premier League.

On October 8, 2017, a wallpaper was created to show that Pokémon Best Wishes-XY has the support of the football industry, particularly in the European football section. The wallpaper features the all-star studded football stars from each team. Featuring Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal, Eden Hazard of Chelsea, Antoine Greizmann of Atletico Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid, Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona, Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Manchester United, and Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munchen.

On April 9, 2018, a new wallpaper was created with changes. Arsenal and Atletico Madrid were replaced by Juventus and Paris St. Germain. Paulo Dybala represents Juventus and Edison Cavani represents Paris St. Germain. In Manchester United, Zlatan Ibrahimović was replaced by Paul Pogba after the football player moved to LA Galaxy in March 2018. A new Pokémon Best Wishes-XY logo was also in exhibit replacing the old logo.

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY is the only Pokémon series to have the support of the football industry, as well as the only non-sport genre anime.

Since around late November-December 2018, the UEFA and other football industry support of Pokémon Best Wishes-XY has no longer being showed up since it is now focusing more on the Japanese culture and anime industry. However, the series might plan on being a supporter of J-League and the Japanese national team instead to have better Japanese cultural support. Also since then, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY has started its less support with UEFA.

Within 2019 and the 1Q 2020, the UEFA industry support of Pokémon Best Wishes-XY was very little, a pinch or even not at all due to the anime series having more support towards the Japanese culture and the anime industry.

Starting April 1, 2020, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY will no longer support the Union of European Football Associations due to its European culture impact. However, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY would still continue to support the football industry by the means of the Japan national team and the J-League instead.

Starting and ending date[]

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY's original period is between July 20, 2017 and September 12, 2017 since it was meant to be a temporary trend. On July 20, 2017, it was mentioned that the start of Pokémon Best Wishes-XY is five days prior, July 15, 2017. On February 2018, it was officially stated that the series' official starting date is on July 10, 2017, directly after Pokémon Advanced Generation's supplementary trends.

Pokemon Best Wishes-XY's original ending date is stated on September 12, 2017. On August 2017, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY has given an extension until October 30, 2017. Due to high demands on trending as series wants to trend on the Christmas season, the series has another extension until January 15, 2018. On October 24, 2017 in the Facebook page of Brain Imaginations Network, Pokemon Best Wishes-XY has a peak of trends from November 1, 2017 until April 30, 2018. This is due to high demand for trends during the winter and spring seasons.

Later on January 19, 2018, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY has extended its peak of trends until June 30, 2018. In addition to that, the series should not end prior to June 30, 2018.

On May 27, 2018, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY has extended another of its peak of trends until October 31, 2018 due to having a lack of people meeting in Pokémon Best Wishes-XY who were first met during Inazuma Eleven GO despite the series is already in a big success.

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY was originally going to cease its trending operations on July 22, 2018 due to continuous interruptions of other Pokémon series and showing of no fine images but due to continuous support of the series trends, authorities decided to cancel the ending of Pokemon Best Wishes-XY. Later, it would still continue to have its peak of trends until the end of October 2018.

On September 2018, the series is expecting to continue trending through 2019 although the peak of trends will still end on October 31, 2018.

On November 21, 2018, Pokémon Best Wishes-XY celebrates its 500th day of trending in the modern era.

The series is expecting to trend up until June 30, 2019 but after this date is still unknown if the series will still proceed or not.

Around March 2019, there was a statement that Pokémon Best Wishes-XY will still trend continuously on summer 2019 (until October) to make vengeance against the interruptions of American and western culture and animation and to continue its legacy to support and patronize Japanese culture and anime industry.

On June 23, 2019, announcement says that Pokémon Best Wishes-XY is expected to proceed trending until April 15, 2020 and will continue its legacy for the Japanese culture and anime industry. On the same time, the series is expecting its 1000th day of trending on April 4, 2020.

Around August 2019, it was announced that Pokémon Best Wishes-XY would end on October 9, 2019 and will be replaced by Pokémon Sun and Moon on the following day. However, was decided to move through July 15, 2020 due to the continuous legacy of the Japanese culture and anime industry.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic 2020 (COVID-19), Pokémon Best Wishes-XY's trends may continue after July 15, 2020 and the end of the reign of trends may end on October 4, 2020 or on April 5, 2021.

On April 29, 2020, the modern era committee has discussed on the ending of Pokémon Best Wishes-XY, which is set on the following day, April 30, 2020 and will be replaced by Pokémon Diamond and Pearl 2 on May 1, 2020. This is due to a large impact to the Japanese community as well as its support to return back the old and classic Pokémon characters that appeared prior to Generation V. At the same time, the will of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl 2's replacement for Pokémon Best Wishes-XY is for the return of Takeshi, the same time with Hikari in the modern era after three and a half years of hiatus. The majority also stated that they want to return classic Pokémon characters in the modern era. This cause to the modern era committee to have only two days of preparation before the beginning of the new major series trend.

The modern era officially had decided to stop trending Pokémon Best Wishes-XY after April 30, 2020 and will not anymore be changed. It will also be the final date for Pokémon Best Wishes-XY's last day. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl 2 will be the official successor of Pokémon Best Wishes-XY and began trending on May 1, 2020.

Pokémon Best Wishes-XY officially ended on April 30, 2020.

Five years after the incident, the leader of the group, Jinta Yadomi, has withdrawn from society, does not attend high school, and lives as a recluse. One summer day, the ghost of an older-looking Menma appears beside him and asks to have a wish granted, reasoning that she cannot pass on into the afterlife until it is fulfilled. At first, he only tries to help her minimally because he thinks he is hallucinating. But since Menma does not remember what her wish is, Jinta gathers his estranged friends together once again, believing that they are the key to resolving this problem. All of the group joins him, though most of them do so reluctantly. However, things grow increasingly complicated when his friends accuse him of not being able to get over the death of Menma, for Jinta is the only one who can see Menma's ghost and his friends think he is seeing things. But as matters progress, it is realized that Jinta is not the only person in the group who is having trouble letting go of the past and later then Menma shows her presence to the group to prove that she is indeed real. It is revealed that all of the group members blame themselves for Menma's death and long-hidden feelings are rekindled. The group struggles as they grow from trying to help Menma move on and help each other move on as well.
