Infestation (Japanese: まとわりつく Follow About) is a Bug-type move introduced in the Generation VI games, Pokémon X and Y. It is also known as TM83 in Generation VI.

Game info[]

Effect[]

In battle[]

Infestation inflicts damage upon the target. For four (4) to five (5) turns, 1/8 of the target's maximum HP is dealt. This move also traps the target, preventing them from switching out or escaping battle. However, the trap can be removed if the Pokémon knows the move Rapid Spin.

If in a wild Pokémon battle the wild Pokémon uses this move, the player is able to flee if the Pokémon affected by Infestation has the ability Run Away or is holding the item Smoke Ball. The only way to switch the Pokémon that has been targeted by Infestation out is through the use of the item Shed Shell.

If the user using the move Infestation is holding the item Grip Claw, the move is guaranteed to last five (5) turns (the maximum amount of turns). If the user is holding the item Binding Band, the damage dealt each turn is increased from 1/8 of the target's maximum HP to 1/6.

Outside of battle[]

Infestation has no affect outside of battle.

Description[]

Version(s) Description
X/Y The target is infested and attacked for four to five turns. The target can't flee during this time.
