Trivia[]

  • As seen in its general shape as well as its name, Galvantula is based off of a tarantula.
  • Its Japanese name is likely a combination of 電気 denki, electricity, or 電柱 denchū, lightpole, and タランチュラ taranchura, tarantula.
  • Galvantula was among eight Pokémon revealed on the show Oha Suta on June 27, 2010. It was officially revealed on the October issue of Coro Coro on September 11, 2010.
  • Galvuantula is the fourth Pokémon with the appearance of a spider, the others being Spinarak, Ariados and Joltik.
  • No other Pokémon shares the same type combination as Galvantula, with the exception of its pre-evolution, Joltik.
  • Galvantula is a portmanteau of the worlds "galvant" and "tarantula".
  • Galvantula and it's pre-evolution, Joltik, are the only Pokémon that can learn Electroweb by leveling up.
