A Battle of Aerial Mobility! (Japanese: メケロマツVSヤヤコマ！空中機動バトル!! Keromatsu VS Yayakoma! Aerial Battle Maneuvers!!) is the 804th episode of the Pokémon anime series. In this episode, Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie, begin their adventures together when a wild Fletchling disrupts their day.

Summary[]

The episode begins with Serena deciding that she wishes to start her journey as a Pokémon Trainer and goes to tell her mother, Grace. After her mom wishing her luck, Serena heads out to Professor Sycamore to receive her first Pokémon. The scene then shifts to Ash registering for the Pokémon League at a Pokémon Center. Once registered, he decides to call Professor Oak to show him his new Pokémon, Froakie. He is greeted by Professor Oak's Rotom on the screen and then soon after by the professor himself. After the call was ended, Ash begins to head out on his journey through Kalos, but was happily surprised when Clemont and his sister, Bonnie asked if they could join him on his journey, which Ash eagerly allowed. When they start leaving the Pokémon Center, Team Rocket is seen talking to their boss, Giovanni. Team Rocket is promissing their boss that they are going to catch a lot of rare Pokémon in the Kalos region. However, shortly after James' croissant was stolen by an Inkay without anyone noticing.

Shortly after they began their journey together, a berry drops from a tree which then followed by a Dedenne chasing after it. After seeing this Dedenne, Bonnie decides that she wants it, but being too young to catch it herself, she asks Clemont if he can catch it for her. Ash also says he will help, but soon after a wild Fletchling appears and steals the berry from Dedenne and eats it. This makes Dedenne cry and then run away. After seeing this Fletchling, Ash decides he wishes to catch it. After witnessing what happened, Ash's Froakie engages in battle with the Fletchling, but due to not working together with Ash, the battle did not progress.

The scene quickly changes to Team Rocket up in their hot air balloon where James is still complaining that he is hungry due to his croissant being stolen. Meowth then brings out some sandwhiches and while their backs are turned, the Inkay from before steals some and begins eating it. It is then seen by Team Rocket and James decides to give it the other sandwhichces to distract it and then simply throws a Poké Ball at it, and successfully catches it, much to Jessie and Meowth's shock to the event.

Clemont begins to set up his machine that works on lowering Flying Pokémon down, but when he startecd playing it, a swarm of Beedrill were attracted to it and began chasing the trio. As they are running, Clemont tries playing his device faster, but it just further enraged the Beedrill. Soon after the device explouds, sending the three of them into a ravine. Clemont was upset due to his machine failing, but Ash reassures him by saying that since it collected a lot of Beedrill that it wasn't a failure after all. They then see Fletchling flying above and laughing at the three of them.

Seeing the enviornment they are in gave Ash an idea to fight and catch Fletchling. The idea is to use the ravine to their advantage due to Froakie's good jumping skills. After sending Froakie out, he begins to jump up on the rocks to get to the same level as Fletching for which he then begins to use a Bubble attack, knocking Fletchling down. Ash then throws a Poké Ball at it but it escapes and so the battle continues. After getting back to Fletchling's level, Froakie uses its frubbles to make a decoy of itself which Fletchling falls for, attacking it and becoming stuck. Froakie then uses its Water Pulse attack, weakening it enough for Ash to catch it. It is then discovered that the Dedenne they saw earlier was observing the fight.

The episode ends with Serena entering Professor Sycamore's laboratory. She immedietely notices the damage in the building and asks the professor about it. He explains to Serena of what happened with Garchomp in the previous episode and how Ash handled the situation. This confirms Serena's suspicions from the previous episode that she recongized him from somewhere. He also explains that Ash is heading to Santalune City. One of the professor's assistants enters the room with the three starter Pokémon Serena is allowed to choose from, for which the episode ends there.

In the scene where Team Rocket is celebrating, there is a part where Jessie is talking but her mouth is not moving.
When Ash throws a second Poké Ball at Fletchling, he flips his hat backwards but when the frame returns to him after catching Fletchling the hat is not flipped backwards.
