Trivia[]

  • Patrat was shown in a trailer preceding the Phantom Champion Zoroark on July 6, 2010. It was officially revealed on the August's issue of Coro Coro along with other six Pokémon on July 11, 2010.
  • Patrat's Japanese name, Minezumi, is derived from 見 mi, looking, and 木鼠 kinezumi, squirrel.
  • Its English name, Patrat, is probably derived from the words "patrol" and "rat," since they always keep watch over their nest and resemble rodents, a member of the rodent family being rats. It also sounds similar to "pack rat."
  • Every Generation and region has had an early rodent-like Pokémon, with Patrat being Unova's variant.
