Aurorus (Japanese: アマルルガ Amaruruga) is a dual-type Rock/Ice Fossil Pokémon, introduced in Generation VI games, Pokémon X and Y, that can only be obtained by evolving it from Amaura after resurrecting it from a Sail Fossil. It is the final evolution of Amaura.

  • Aurorus and it's pre-evolution, Amaura, are the only Rock/Ice-type Pokémon.
  • It has the highest base HP stat out of all Rock-type Pokémon.

Design origins[edit | edit source]

Aurorus is based on any of the numerous sauropods, in particular the Amargasurus.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Aurorus's name is likely based on Amargasaurus, a sauropod from the Early Cretaceous period, and the word aurora.
