- Archen is one of three fossil Pokémon that is also a bird, along with Aerodactyl and Archeops.
- Archen is also one of five fossil Pokémon that start with the letter "A", along with Anorith, Armaldo, and yet again, Aerodactyl and Archeops.
- Archen is based on Archaeopteryx, a prehistoric bird that supposedly lived in the the Late Jurassic period and the first bird animal known, since it has claws on its wings.
