Amaura (Japanese: アマルス Amarusu) is a dual-type Rock/Ice Fossil Pokémon, introduced in Generation VI games, Pokémon X and Y, that can only be obtained by resurrecting it from a Sail Fossil. It evolves into Aurorus, starting at level 39, but only at night.

Design origins

Amaura is based on any of the numerous sauropods, in particular the Amargasurus.

Etymology

Amaura's name is likely based on Amargasaurus, a sauropod from the Early Cretaceous period, and the word aura.
